The American Pain Society & the California Academy of Family Physicians: A unique partnership for us and a great educational opportunity for you. We're coming together to promote the advancement of pain care among primary care providers.

Overview

Changing patient demographics, acuity, and the availability of newer pain treatment agents make staying on top of its care intricate and at times difficult.

Clinicians in primary care see patients who are in pain every day. Primary care residents rate their pain care training as inadequate. Less than half of medical schools include chronic pain in their curriculum. Whether it is through limited training or experience, there is reported to be a lack of preparation, confidence, and reward when managing these patients.

Through participation in this course, learners will receive the strategies to adequately evaluate the quality of the pain care in their practice setting, create a plan for change, and leave with the tools necessary to positively impact the care they provide.
