This self-help book, which is written for chronic pain patients who are looking to participate in their own care, is heavily based on cognitive/ behavioral strategies. The book’s eclectic authors advocate using any strategies that feel good, and they write with a warm, engaging style. This book may be useful for chronic pain patients who have adequate reading skills and a modicum of self-motivation.
Dr. Loeser is Professor of Neurological Surgery and Anesthesiology at the University of Washington in Seattle.
